FEATURE FILMS


In 2008 Jack edited his first feature film LAST RIDE, directed by Glendyn Ivin, which premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival. Following on from this, Jack worked with director Amiel Courtin-Wilson on his documentary BASTARDY, (co-edited with Richard Lowenstein and Bill Murphy) receiving a 2009 AFI Nomination, Best Editing of a Documentary.

Following from this Jack teamed up with director Julius Avery on his first feature film SON OF A GUN starring Ewan McGregor, Brenton Thwaites and Alicia Vikander which premiered at the London Film Festival 2014, and then director Ariel Kleiman on his first feature film PARTISAN starring Vincent Cassel (co-edited with Chris Wyatt) which premiered at the 2015 Sundance Film Festival.

Other work includes BERLIN SYNDROME working with director Cate Shortland for producer Polly Staniford at Aquarius Films, and which premiered at Sundance 2017. The Film has been nominated for eight AACTA awards in 2017 including best film, best direction and best editing.

Most recently Jack cut THE HITMAN’S WIFE’S BODYGUARD (with Michael Duthie) - the action comedy sequel to Patrick Hughes’ earlier Hitman’s Bodyguard movie. The film stars Ryan Reynolds, Samuel L. Jackson, Selma Hayek, Morgan Freeman, Frank Grillo and Antonio Banderas.

Directors Jack has been lucky enough to cut for include Steve Rogers, Garth Davis, Steve Ayson, Mark Molloy, Cate Shortland, Nick Ball, Christopher Riggert, Tom Kuntz, Michael Spiccia, Vikki Blanche, Nathan Price, Hamish Rothwell, Gary Freedman, Glendyn Ivin, and The Glue Society.

Many of the commercials Jack has edited have won awards around the globe including gold, silver, bronze and titanium lion’s at the Cannes Lions, gold at MADC’s and AWARD in Australia, metal at the AXIS awards in New Zealand, silver Clio’s in the US, and gongs at the D&AD’s and British advertising awards in the UK.

SHORT FILMS


Jack’s first short film CRACKER BAG, written and directed by Glendyn Ivin, won the Palme d’Or at the 2003 Cannes Film Festival and was nominated for Best Editing for a Non-Feature Film Award at the 2003 Australian Film Institute Award, and won the AFI award for best short fiction.

Jack’s next short film NATURE’S WAY, written and directed by Jane Shearer, was in competition at the 2006 Cannes Film Festival and won the Jury Prize for Best Short Film at the 2007 Paris International Film Festival. Next Jack worked with Dustin Feneley on his short HAWKER, which was selected to premiere at the London International Film Festival.

In 2007 Jack edited JERRYCAN, a short film for director Julius Avery which won the July Prize at the 2008 Cannes Film Festival. This short won an AFI award for best short film at the AFI awards, and a best editing award at the Melbourne International Film Festival.

Other credits include the Michael Spiccia short film YARDBIRD (2012 )-which marked the fourth short film edited by Jack to make official selection into the Cannes Film Festival, and also won best short film and best editing at Flickerfest, and then best short film at Sydney Film Festival. Then followed another kiwi short, COLD SNAP which was directed by Leo Woodhead and premiered in competition at the Venice Film Festival in 2013.

In 2016 - another short film; this time with director Yianni Warnock titled HOMEBODIES which has premiered at the 2016 Clermont Ferrand film festival, and was nominated for best short film at the 2016 AACTA awards.
